During April 2019, SARS migrated to a new hosting platform. This also had an impact on the SARS eFiling user interface. From 1 July 2019, you will be required to create a default Primary User.
1. What will change if you create a Primary User?
Prior to 1 July 2019, separate SARS eFiling user profiles were created for each individual and organisation. Therefore, if you are an Organisation Representative (i.e. a company’s representative taxpayer) you would have your own personal user profile with respect to your own individual tax affairs, and a second user profile with respect to the organisation of which you are a representative. This means that when you wanted to gain access to the organisation’s profile, you would have to logout of your personal user profile and login with your organisation profile credentials.
From 1 July 2019, your SARS eFiling profile will be based on all the profiles linked to your identity number. Therefore, by using one username and password, you will be able to access a user profile dashboard containing:
- Your own personal user profile relating to your own personal tax affairs, for example for completing your ITR12; and
- All profiles for the organisations linked to your identity number. This means that, if you are an Organisation Representative, you will also be able to access the organisation’s profile from the merged user profile dashboard.
2. What do you need to do?
When you login to SARS eFiling for the first time on/after 1 July 2019, SARS eFiling will request you to create a default Primary User. SARS eFiling will display a list of the usernames that are linked to your identity number. To create a default Primary User profile, select the username that you want to continue using for all of your profiles.
After creating a default Primary User, you will use the same username (and associated password) to gain access to all user profiles linked to your identity number.
